Mr. Charles W. Rains has decades of experience performing business valuation and litigation support services, including commercial damage calculations, lost profit analyses, forensic accounting and intellectual property valuations. He has been involved in hundreds of business valuations with total appraised value in the billions of dollars, representing varying industries.

Mr. Rains’ litigation experience includes analyzing business losses and improprieties, searching for hidden and undervalued assets, marital/non-marital tracing, overseeing minority shareholder dissenting action suits, investigating misappropriation of funds, investigating financial fraud and opposing expert critiques/rebuttal reports.

Mr. Rains founded C. W. Rains & Associates, Inc. in 2013 after working for seventeen years at several Baltimore- and Washington-based regional accounting and consulting firms. Fifteen of those years were in business valuation and litigation support, and prior to that, he spent two years as an accountant, specializing in tax, audit, accounting and consulting. Charles also has experience in real estate and worked as a realtor with Champion Realty, Inc., where he assisted residential home buyers and sellers in purchasing and selling their homes.

Mr. Rains is a cum laude graduate of Towson State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in mathematics. He keeps abreast of valuation, accounting, tax, and business topics through continuing education and seminars.
